Self-taught, she meticulously handcrafts each piece using a range of techniques and experimental glaze processes to create textured, ethereal surfaces that embrace both elegance and irregularity. Drawing on historical decorative motifs, her pieces become expressions of self and identity, that belong to imagined worlds where personal narratives intertwine with mythology, folklore, and historical ornament. Valuing the focus, labour, and repetitive nature of an ancient craft such as ceramics and its durable materiality, she is interested in how it can connect us to centuries past and those yet to come. Engaging with this temporal dimension, her work explores the effects of time on material objects, using layered glaze processes to evoke ageing and wear to tell a story. Ultimately exploring the interplay between tradition and imperfection through evocative ceramic forms by merging historical references with contemporary expression.
